I'm begging Tiger Woods to continue to stay out of the spotlight for at least another few weeks. What's the rush? Right now people are focused on the crisis in Haiti as they rightfully should. Even the most shallow self-centered people I know are actually donating whatever they can to a better cause than themselves. I'm impressed with the generosity that has come out of my depth of one of the most shallow cities in the world (that city being Miami). A horrible tragedy occurred to a nation that has had a series of bad luck ever since they became the 2nd country on the Western Hemisphere to declare independence from a European power.
As a Miami native, I've made a ton of Haitian friends through the years and I think they've gotten the cold shoulder in general from the Cubans in this city. The Haitians I know are great people and it sucks to see such a country full of potential become one of the most poorest countries in the whole entire world. Even before this 7.0 earthquake demolished this tiny nation, this country was a total mess. I'm just so glad to see people come out of the woodwork to do anything they can to help. It will take years to get this place up and running. Actually, this place was barely up and running to begin with and I think we will need to be committed to these people for a while. I think the media has done a good job covering it so far (obviously, I don't count FOX News or that ultra-douche Rush Limbaugh as legit media) but I hope they stay on message and don't get distracted by anything ridiculous like Tiger Woods coming out to the public to show his newly recovered and operated face. It's only a matter of time that Mr. Woods will come out ready to hit the links again and hold a press conference or two (not to mention his first interview). He'll be ready for his comeback but Haiti won't. By Tiger doing this act of selfishness, Dr. Sanjay Gupta will have to abandon a small Haitian child with a split open skull to fly back to New York to discuss sex addiction while this little boy bleeds to death in a dirty forgotten tent. The media will be all over Tiger no time and the whole country will forget all about poor little Haiti while it dives further into chaos and despair. People will stop buying canned goods and toilet paper to send out to Haiti and instead will start buying copies of US Weekly and People magazine. Tiger will dominate all of the major news coverage and it won't go away. So while Americans are being kind and thinking of a better cause than themselves, I beg Tiger woods to hide in whatever Long Island mansion or sex rehab center for a few more weeks. Just do it!
